Only one thing to announce, but boy, what an announcement:

CONCURRENT IS OFFICIALLY FULLY FUNDED.

We hit our donation goal! 5000 dollars, all thanks to eighty of you! Thank you especially to the donors who gave over 200+ USD to us. We could not have reached the finish line without you.

I'm so excited we've reached our goal. Thank you all again. I'll see you in Seattle in under three weeks.

We're moving steadily toward convention day, which is in under three weeks. I can't believe that we've pulled stuff together so quickly sometimes. Here's what's new:

• Added a safety section to the code of conduct page, which is now Code of Conduct & Safety.
• Added walking directions to the ACT/UAC from Summit. There's more than one way to get to the ACT; you can take Pike Street instead of Pine, for example.
• Formalized our safety and reporting policy and pinned the document in the Discord. That PDF will go out to all registered attendees the week before the convention.

. . . the Union Arts Center as of last week! The ACT Theatre and Seattle Shakespeare have combined to make the Union Arts Center. Don't worry, they haven't moved anywhere. They're staying in the building. We may, however, continue to call the UAC by its old name as we adjust to the change.

Been a little while since the last update, but we've been busy. I want to say, before I launch into the bullet-point update, that if you've registered for ConCurrent but have not received a confirmation email, please check your spam boxes. Space sparklecorn missives are tasty, evidently.

Here's what's going on:

• Added a new page: Other Events! We're strongly suggesting you go to Town Hall Seattle and attend Writers with Drinks once ConCurrent is over.
• Finished our walkthrough of the ACT and are mapping out the space
  • Relatedly, we've had a request for a dedicated quiet space; one side of the mezzanine in the Bullitt will be cordoned off to create this quiet space.
  • ConCurrent will have a zine-and-stuff swap table, where you can drop off zines, bookplates, book merch, and anything else related to ConCurrent! Maybe someone will want to print out, staple, and autograph a short story . . .
• Been sending out registration confirmations!
• Finishing up con safety guidelines, including the "help, help" phone number and contacts. We've spoken to ACT about their safety policies and have drawn up our own safety policies to support theirs. ConCurrent is a private event and both we and the ACT will deny access at our discretion.
• We're drafting emails and moderator guidelines and will be looking for day-of volunteers soon, as well as Discord helpers.
• Finally, the fun stuff: deciding on ribbon and sticker designs.

Our schedule and panel descriptions are up! Panelist information will be coming by the end of next week. Registration is also open!

Here's what we have left to do:

• wrangle all registration information
• badge testing/badge creation
• raise the rest of the money!
• take a deep breath or two.

Somehow, it's almost the end of June, which means there are a little over six weeks until ConCurrent is officially a go. Phase 2, which is panelists and scheduling, is about finished, and phase 3, which is registration, is about to step forward into the spotlight.

Here's what we've been up to.

• Finalized all panelists and moderators; panel announcements begin next week
• Getting closer to having registration parts 1-3 set
• Finalizing safety plans; bringing in safety volunteers
• Preparing for phase 3

We've still got a lot to do, but once we've got registration open and chugging along, I'll be able to heave a big sigh of relief.

Here's what we're up to this week!

• Welcomed a new volunteer to the crew!
• The ConCurrent Code of Conduct is now available under the "About" tab.
• We're more than halfway to finalizing all panels. Just waiting on some confirmations!
• WorldCon reached out to us a couple of weeks ago for a possible partnership. We replied we'd say yes as long as they endorsed ConCurrent's mission of having no genAI involved. They've agreed, so in the following weeks, you may see links and promo for ConCurrent coming out in official WorldCon correspondence.
• Finished our first whack at a registration form and built out a preliminary registration workflow end to end.
• Scheduling another walkthrough at the theater so we can map the space out and get all our accessibility questions answered
• Turned our eyes to con safety and will be working on that document next.

I'm so excited to be able to announce panels. Hopefully, by the end of the month. If we're ahead of schedule, we might even get to have a couple of extras at the con. I'm not one to count chickens before they're hatched, so I will hold that under wraps until we're ready.

Finally but not leastly, we're more than halfway to our fundraising goal! Thank you to everyone who has donated and please spread the word - we're getting to our goal little by little.

Sometimes, I feel like a duck cruising along on the surface of the water while paddling madly beneath it. Here's what's going on this week.

• programming is getting finalized

What's next? Making sure all our panelists and moderators are confirmed and have the relevant info for their panels. We'll be putting the code of conduct on the website once it's shiny and chrome, and then we'll begin figuring out the ins and outs of registration and how we'd like the process to work.
